Johnny Depp breaks silence on parenting with ex Vanessa Paradis

Johnny Depp opened up about raising his children, Lily-Rose and Jack, in France with ex Vanessa Paradis.

While conversing with The Sunday Times, the 62-year-old American actor and musician talked about a painting behind him, revealing it was a portrait of his daughter, Lily-Rose, whom he and Paradis welcomed in 1999.

Depp said, "I never finished it. She was 10 then, and 25 now.”

He mournfully added, “Years get away from us, don’t they? I’m of the empty-nest syndrome."

The Pirates of the Caribbean star was asked what he misses most about having his kids around; he responded by quipping, "Oh man, my kids growing up in the south of France in their youth?”

Calling to mind the bygone days, he noted, “I was Papa. I cannot tell you how much I loved being Papa.”

“Then, suddenly, Papa was out the window. I was Dad. But Papa was awesome, and I’m getting old enough for Papa to possibly come back. Some motherf***** going to have to call me Papa!” Depp stated.

For the unversed, the Alice in Wonderland actor and Paradis ended their relationship in 2012 after being together for 14 years.

It is pertinent to mention that they raised their kids away from the public eye in an estate near St. Tropez, which Johnny Depp bought in 2001 before moving to Los Angeles.
