Prince William nearly derailed his romance with Kate Middleton due to inherited fear of commitment from King Charles, claimed an expert.
According to a royal expert, the Prince of Wales is believed to have inherited his hesitation toward marriage from the monarch.
This fear nearly cost him his relationship with Kate Middleton, royal expert Katie Nicholl claimed, referring to their brief breakup in early years of romance.
In her book The Making of a Royal Romance: William, Kate, and Harry, Nicholl revealed that William and Kate reunited after taking a quiet trip to the secluded island of Desroches in the Seychelles
"With a population of just 50 and 3 miles long, the paradise island was the perfect escape," she penned, per Daily Mail.
"[B]oth of them knew that at some point they had to discuss the future,” the expert shared.
"For a young man who has an inherent fear of tomorrow, this was not easy for William, but the tranquil backdrop of the island was as good place as any to discuss it."
There, William promised Kate that she was “the one” for him and that he was serious about her and their reconciliation.
"William, who had inherited something of his father's fear of commitment, knew he would lose Kate if he could not give her some form of guarantee," Nicholl revealed.
According to a close friend of William, the now-Prince and Princess of Wales made a "pact" during their 2007 vacation.
"They didn't agree to get married there and then; what they made was a pact," the expert shared, citing the friend.
