Septuagenarians King Charles, Queen Camilla perform royal duties amid Scotland rain

King Charles and Queen Camilla held umbrellas as they performed their duties in Kirkcaldy, Scotland, during the rain on Wednesday.

The royal family later released a video of the couple's engagement with a statement that said, "This morning, The King and Queen were welcomed to a rainy Kirkcaldy for an event to mark the centenary of Kirkcaldy’s War Memorial, a cornerstone of local heritage."

It said, "Established in 1925 through local businessman John Nairn’s donation in memory of his son Ian who died in WWI, this memorial has been the town’s heart of remembrance for generations of Kirkcaldy families."

The statement added, "Their Majesties opened a new Cairn, designed as a time capsule to be filled with items from local young people, connecting the town’s past, present and future."

"His Majesty went on to visit the town’s art gallery where he also met community groups, including Multibank, a food bank project co-founded by Gordon Brown."

Gordon Brown, a former British prime minister, recently joined King Charles's son and heir, Prince William, as the royal marked two years of his initiative aimed at ending homelessness in the UK.
