Katie Thurston is getting vulnerable ahead of a major scan amid an ongoing cancer battle.

The Bachelorette alum, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in February 2025, candidly spoke about the raw truth revolving around the health scare she is going through right now as she prepares herself for a scan that will determine whether her current treatment is working.

Thurston believes that surviving cancer is about training the mind to look for positivity, being brave, and with that cherishing each and every moment of life.

"July 7 is my big check-in scan, to see how the meds are working with my tumor," Thurston shared on her Instagram on July 3. "Good news would be either no growth, or even shrinkage. Not-so-good news would be growth or new spread."

“We go home today, and oftentimes when I’m entering back into reality of cancer, that’s when things kind of start to hit,” Thurston explained. “When those monthly scans or appointments come and go, I allow myself the next 28 days to really forget that I have cancer.”

The reality star shared that her cancer journey has made her change the way she used to think. "My oncologist never told me how much time I have left, and I’ve never asked," she noted adding, “Stage 4 is a very scary mentality at times, because it is forever."

“But there’s a small part of me that like feels like a dog before it dies, gets this, like, this big boost, you know,” Thurston said as she got emotional in the video. “I’m not trying to even make this like a sad video. I’m just being honest that cancer is very much like a trained lifestyle at this point.”

Thurston concluded her video by sharing that she spends every day of her life being grateful, "Every night I go to bed, I’m like, ‘Thank you for giving me today,'" she added.
