Princess of Wales Kate Middleton will likely give her mother Carole Middleton a major role when she becomes Queen after Prince William ascends to the throne.

Kate will be queen consort when Prince William accedes to the throne.

According to a report by the People magazine, it is not likely that Kate Middleton’s parents will receive royal titles when the Prince of Wales becomes king and Kate becomes queen.

The report explains that royal titles are reserved for those born into or marrying into the family, while dukedoms and other noble titles are passed down through a family or granted by the reigning monarch.

It further says Carole and Michael could be awarded titles, the family of a queen consort has historically not been given such an honor.

The future queen could also appoint her mother Carole or sister Pippa Middleton as her "companions," however, the role is different from an official royal title.

The publication, previously quoted an insider saying Kate Middleton parents are an “enduring factor” in the upbringing of their grandchildren Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

Prince William also shares a close bond with his in-laws.

James Middleton, the brother of the Princess of Wales, in his memoir Meet Ella: The Dog Who Saved My Life, revealed that his beloved dog would give William "a good excuse to escape the fiercely competitive nature of the Middleton family, which emerges every time we play our favorite fast-paced card game, Racing Demon.”
