Sabrina Carpenter shares her perception of ‘hit song' following her big win

Sabrina Carpenter just received the award for Variety’s 2025 Hitmaker of the Year.

The 26-year-old has been recognized for latest released album “Man’s Best Friend” released on August 29, 2025.

While accepting the award, Sabrina made a powerful speech and also shared what she believes are the things that make a song superhit.

“There is no one person who can predict a hit song”, she said.

She continued, “There is a lot people who are going to try though and that a very funny thing that ‘I knew this song was going to be a hit’ and you’re like ‘I don’t know.”

According to the Man Child singer, there are a certain element that needs to be aligned to make the song exist.

“I think all the stars and the timing and the songs before it had to align in order for that song to exist in the world at the right time.”

“And I try to remind myself that because to me a hit song is pretty lonely and lacks context without the world of music around it.”

She feels lucky to have been able to create the little world of songs and that is something Carpenter added inevitably to her new album, Man’s Best Friend.
