At draw of stumps on day 2 the visitors were reeling at 5-106 after the Indian batting folded for 438 adding only 131 to their overnight score.
Cheteshwar Pujara was the top scorer with 159, while Mahinder Singh Dhoni and Virat Kohli registered half centuries.
