Sarah Palin shoots down paternity claim by daughter's ex-fiancé as attempt at 'saving face'

Weeks after former vice-presidential candidate and Alaska Governor Sarah Palin's daughter Bristol Palin gave birth to her daughter Sailor Grace, Bristol's ex-fiancé is claiming to be the biological father. 

Sarah Palin spoke to Entertainment Tonight and about her daughters ex-fiancé Dakota Meyer's claims. 

“For many months we have been trying to reach out to Dakota Myers [sic] and he has wanted nothing to do with either Bristol’s pregnancy or the baby,” Palin reportedly told ET.

“Paramount to the entire Palin family is the health and welfare of Sailor Grace,” Palin said, adding that Meyer was attempting to 'save face'. 

The ex fiancé has apparently filed legal documents claiming to be Sailor Grace's father and is also seeking joint custody and child support, according to media reports. 

Sarah Palin's daughter has not publicly revealed the identity of Sailor's father. 

She was engaged to Meyer in early 2015 and the two planned to get married just before summer in May. 

However one week before the wedding was set to take place, it was called off, but in June she announced she was expecting. .

Interestingly Meyer, a Marine Corps veteran and holder of the Congressional Medal of Honour shared a photo of Sailor Grace on social media shortly after she was born with the caption: “Best Christmas present ever!! I couldn’t be more proud of this little blessing.”

According to reports it is unclear how Meyer got hold of Sailor's picture. 

Responding to him seeking child support Bristol's representative told ET “My values are such that a real American hero doesn’t ask for child support.”
