Demi Moore recently got candid and revealed she was ready to walk away from Hollywood before receiving the script for The Substance.
The Ghost actress illuminated the 2024 SFFILM Awards in San Francisco, California, where she was honoured with the Maria Manetti Shrem Award.
While receiving her award, Moore shared with the audience that she was clueless about her future in the world of entertainment ahead of her latest film.
The star of A Few Good Men articulated, "I've had a very long career, but I haven't really ever been part of the conversations that allowed me to be part of [awards shows] and to really receive the love and celebration of my work. I'm really just so humbled."
She added, “At the beginning of 2022, I had a moment where I was at an event and I felt I didn't belong. I didn't know why I was there. I wanted to be invisible, and I couldn't figure out how to get out.”
“And I thought, 'You know what? Maybe my time doing this is complete. Maybe I've done everything I was supposed to do.' Two weeks later, the script for 'The Substance' came across my desk,” Moore quipped by expressing her emotions and thoughts.
The Disclosure actress concluded her speech by confessing that she was "almost ready to step away" from the entertainment industry, and now she is happy for not taking that step.
For the unversed, the 62-year-old actress has been nominated for Best Female Actor at the 2024 Golden Globes for her role in The Substance.
According to Daily Mail, it is the film about which many critics claimed that Moore gave one of her best performances in.
In the movie, she depicts the role of an ageing actress who gets her hands on a black market drug to create a younger version of herself in order to stay relevant; however, things go wrong.
It is pertinent to mention that The Substance was released in the United States on September 20, 2024, following its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May this year.
