Bill Maher, a comedian and television personality, sat down for an interview with CNN where he revealed whether he’d be retiring from his job as host.

Rumours began earlier about him leaving Real Time With Bill Maher which he has been the face of since 2003.

Addressing the speculation, he stated, “I don’t know where this started about I’m getting rid of Real Time. They’re going to have to drag me off of that show.”

Real Time is set to return on 17 January for its 23rd season on HBO.

His new statement comes after he previously implied that he would no longer be hosting the show on his podcast, Club Random.

He explained to his guest, Jane Fonda, that he wasn’t looking forward to coming up with new material with Donald Trump becoming the face of American politics once again.

“I may quit because I don’t want to do another. I did Trump. I did all the Trump stuff before anybody. I called him a con man before anybody. I did. He’s a mafia boss. I was the one who said he wasn’t going to concede the election. I’ve done it,” he stated.

Bill Maher went on to conclude that while he may be retiring from stand-up comedy, his position on the show was safe.
