Kensington Palace has made a big announcement about Princess of Wales Kate Middleton.
Royal expert Matt Wilkinson took to X, formerly Twitter handle and shared palace announcement about the future queen.
He tweeted, “New: A first for the Princess of Wales. She'll take part in her first naming ceremony of a naval vessel, as sponsor of HMS Glasgow, next Thursday.”
“The ceremony on the Clyde will see the Princess release a bottle of whisky which will be broken (hopefully) against the ship's hull,” the tweet further reads.
Meanwhile, according to a report by the GB News, Prince William will also visit Glasgow for the naming ceremony of HMS Glasgow at BAE Systems' shipyard in Scotstoun with Kate Middleton.
The future king and queen will attend the event where the Princess, who serves as the ship's Sponsor, will officially name the state-of-the-art Type 26 anti-submarine frigate designed to protect the UK's nuclear deterrent and aircraft carriers.
Kate Middleton was appointed as Sponsor of HMS Glasgow in June 2021.
The centuries-old maritime tradition, release of a bottle of whisky that will break against the ship's hull, marks the official naming of the vessel before it enters service with the Royal Navy.
