Joe Jonas just explained the reason behind delaying the release of his second solo album, Music For People Who Believe in Love.
The 35-year-old Jonas Brothers star, who has now released his highly-anticipated follow-up to his 2011 album, Fastlife, recalled how he came to creating his new one and sat kept it from releasing for almost a year after it was complete despite wanting to launch early.
"We were writing for a camp for the [Jonas] Brothers. I just felt so drawn to this one song, and I asked the guys for approval," he told PEOPLE magazine.
Joe continued, "I was like, 'Hey, can I please take this one and maybe just explore where this could go for myself?' It felt very personal."
"Nick's words were like, 'I mean, I get it. I'm jealous, but I get it.' He's like, 'I didn't write on it, so I can't really say no,'" the singer recalled, clarifying that this incident dated back to March of the previous year.
After that Joe and his team which included Justin Trainor, Alexander 23 and Lush in the team of writers, "just carried on and made the album in two-some weeks."
And even though Music For People Who Believe in Love was composed rather quickly, the Camp Rock star explained why he had been "sitting on" the project, despite announcing that the album would originally drop in October.
"I was eager to get it out for a while there. I think last year at some point, I called my manager, I was like, 'Can I just leak the album or put it out?' I was like, 'I'm tired of waiting,'" he recalled.
Joe Jonas was "convinced not to," and is glad he waited especially because his most recent single, Heart by Heart, "wouldn't have had [on the album] if I didn't hold onto it. So, I'm glad I waited."
