Todd Chrisley, father of Savannah Chrisley, has opened up about his feelings when he learnt he was pardoned.
On Friday, May 30, he went to a press conference in Nashville, marking his first public appearance as he got out of prison two days ago.
For the unversed, the American TV personality and his wife, Julie Chrisley, were found guilty of tax evasion and bank fraud and sent to prison in January 2023.
After more than two years, the President of the United States, Donald Trump, gave them full pardon on May 27.
Calling to mind the moment when he got to know he would be released from prison and finally go home, Todd shared, “I had a staff member that came to me and said, ‘You've just been pardoned.’ And I just looked at him, and he says, ‘No, really, you've been pardoned. It's in the news.’”
The 57-year-old, who attended the press conference with his daughter, Savannah, and attorneys Alex Little and Zack Lawson, revealed that after hearing the biggest news, he took no time to call his daughter and she also confirmed the news.
He explained, "I remember walking back from the phone and just feeling numb, not really knowing.”
“And then after about 10 minutes, all I could think about were the guys that I was leaving behind, because I had made such wonderful relationships with those men. And when I left that day, they —there was only 317 men at our camp — but they were lined up shouting when I was walking out. They were saying, 'Don't leave. Don't forget us. Don't forget us.' And my commitment is to them that I will never forget them,” Todd recalled.
