Prince Harry confirms UK visit over major event

Prince Harry has confirmed when he will next visit the UK after he lost his High Court appeal in the security case.

In his appeal, Harry asked the court to restore his state-funded security. However, the judge decided int he favor of the Home Office, which means Harry will continue to get security on a case-by-case basis when in the U.K.

Now, the Duke of Sussex has confirmed that he will return to the U.K. in July 2027 for the Invictus Games, which will be hosted in Birmingham. However, it is entirely likely that the Duke could visit the country before this date as well.

It was announced in July 2024 that the next games would be hosted in Birmingham. The dates were announced on Tuesday.

The official Invictus Games Birmingham 2027 social media account posted: "SAVE THE DATES! The Invictus Games Birmingham 2027 are coming: 10th–17th July. Opening Ceremony: 10th July. Closing Ceremony: 17th July."

The Invictus Games were founded after Prince Harry witnessed the Warrior Games in Colorado in 2013 and saw how injured American military personnel enjoyed doing sports that were tailored to them.

The first games were held in 2014. Since then, Harry has hosted the games in cities like Sydney, Orlando, and, most recently, he hosted the first-ever winter Invictus Games in Whistler and Vancouver in Canada.

This announcement comes after Harry opened up about his loss in the court case regarding his downgraded security.

"I can't see a world in which I would bring my wife and children back to the UK at this point. There have been so many disagreements between myself and some of my family," the Duke said.

"I would love reconciliation with my family. There's no point continuing to fight any more, life is precious," he noted.

Ever since he and Meghan Markle stepped down as working royals in 2020 and moved to the U.S.A., Harry has only been to the U.K. for key events and doesn’t stay long.
