Will Smith admits he's 'hurt' by turning down these two roles

Will Smith recently got candid and opened up about one major role he passed on.

In a recent talk with radio station Kiss Xtra, the 56-year-old American actor and rapper expressed his feelings about turning down two big roles, admitting he still feels “hurt” about it.

Smith shared that he said no to playing Neo in The Matrix because he chose to do Wild Wild West instead and called it one of his “beautiful scars.”

When asked about another role he turned down, The Pursuit of Happyness star said, "it hurts too bad to talk about," ahead of revealing that he opted out of the role of Cobb in Inception.

He explained, "I don't think I've ever said it publicly but I am going to say it because we are opening up to one another. Chris Nolan brought me Inception first and I didn't get it. I've never said that out loud. Now that I think about it, it's those movies that go into those alternate realities... they don't pitch well."

"I'm hurt by those two," Will Smith noted.

Notably, Leonardo DiCaprio ended up depicting Cobb in Inception, a movie that turned out to be one of the biggest hits.

It is pertinent to mention that Keanu Reeves took on the role of Neo in The Matrix and ended up playing the same role in all four movies.
