Kate Middleton opens up about 'really difficult' time after cancer treatment

Kate Middleton is opening up about the phase after cancer treatment.

Kate paid a soulful visit to Colchester Hospital in Essex on July 2 and spent time in a well-being garden dedicated to patients, NHS staff, and visitors.

"You put on a sort of brave face, stoicism through treatment," the Princess of Wales shared, per People.

"Treatment's done, then it's like, 'I can crack on, get back to normal,' but actually, the phase afterwards is really, really difficult," she confessed.

"You're not necessarily under the clinical team any longer, but you're not able to function normally at home as you perhaps once used to," the mom-of-three explained.

She highlights the importance of therapy after treatment to guide the recovering patient through their new, toned-down lifestyle.

"And actually, someone to help talk you through that, show you and guide you through that sort of phase that comes after treatment, I think is really valuable," she said.

"You have to find your new normal and that takes time...and it's a rollercoaster, it's not smooth, like you expect it to be," added Kate.

"But the reality is you go through hard times," she shared.

The Princess of Wales revealed her cancer diagnosis in March 2024 after she underwent an abdominal surgery in January the same year. She told the public via a video message that she was diagnosed with cancer after the surgery, and had begun her chemotherapy.

Kate Middleton remained out of the public eye for most of the year and slowly resumed public-facing duties around Christmas last year.
