Queen Camilla has shared an important message during her latest royal visit.

The wife of King Charles officially opened the newly rebuilt Ratho Library in Newbridge Edinburgh on Tuesday.

During her solo outing, Camilla used the opportunity to highlight something very important.

Sharing about her love of reading, the step-mother of Prince William and Prince Harry said, “I wish a lot of other people would follow your example and open more libraries all over the country.”

“Sadly, a lot of them have been closing down. So to see something as wonderful as this being reopened is all to the credit of all of you who've made it happen,” Camilla added.

It is worth mentioning that Camilla has a personal passion for literacy as she is also patron of several organizations prompting reading for every age.

When the Queen met The Girl on the Train author Paula Hawkins during her visit, she told him, “I’m very partial to crime novels.”

She also praised libraries in local communities, saying, “They manage to inspire a love of reading of books, from toddlers to pensioners.”

The solo engagement in Scotland comes as Queen Camilla took part in Holyrood Week alongside King Charles.
