Harry, Meghan likely to react as Charles weighs major Royal decision

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are expected to get upset as King Charles has been tipped to take burden of major decision off Prince William.

A royal commentator said that the monarch should be the one to decide whether the Sussex kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, keep their royal titles, instead of leaving the decision to William.

Writing for Daily Mail Australia, Sharon Hunt said the British Royal Family might follow the example of Denmark’s Queen Margrethe, who removed the titles of four of her grandchildren in 2022 to modernise the monarchy without causing a rift.

She further noted that the move would likely upset the Duke and Duchess of Sussex but it could help avoid bigger problems in the future.

Hunt said stripping Archie and Lilibet’s titles will likely cause "backlash and upset from Harry and Meghan,”

However, it could provide a "glimmer of hope" for any royal reconciliation in the future between the royals and the Sussexes.

“While the situations are certainly not identical, it would bear consideration for William to advocate that his father follow Margrethe's example by being the one to make the decision on Archie and Lilibet's royal titles while still the reigning monarch,” she penned.

“In the short term, blowback is to be expected. Harry will likely be upset," the expert added.

"But, as seen in Denmark, Margrethe's self-sacrificial decision to remove the titles and bear the brunt of the fallout before her reign ended may well have had the effect of limiting the rift between her sons, Frederik and Joachim.”
