Kate Middleton once left her fans stunned after she broke a royal protocol during an appearance at Wimbledon 2023.
As fans await to see the Princess of Wales at this year’s Wimbledon during the French state visit on July 8, a report has resurfaced when she broke a royal rule.
A long-time tennis fan and patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club since 2016, Kate has made regular appearances at the tournament.
In 2023, Kate was given the responsibility of presenting the winner and runner-up trophies.
Prince William’s wife made headlines after comforting Tunisian player Ons Jabeur with a warm hug following her second consecutive runner-up finish.
However, Kate’s sweet gesture was widely praised, per Daily Mail, with Jabeur saying, “Obviously, she was very nice."
“She didn't know if she wanted to give me a hug or not. I told her hugs are always welcome from me,” the athlete added.
Jabeur also shared what Kate said to her, “Same thing after last year. To encourage me to be strong, to come back and win a Grand Slam, win a Wimbledon.”
“She was really the nicest,” she said of Kate, while speaking with Hello! “She has watched me twice, losing the final twice.”
“She kept asking me if she could hug me, and I was like, "Who doesn't want a hug from a Princess, you know?
“For me, it was such an amazing moment. And not just that, I felt her kindness and energy around me.”
