Shakira and Gerard Piqué have begun speaking directly again after three years marked by distance, public jabs and breakup-inspired music.
According to Vanitatis (Spanish publication), the former couple has restored a cordial line of communication and now handles conversations by phone and WhatsApp without intermediaries or conflict.
Their renewed dialogue follows a long period in which contact was nearly impossible. Since announcing their split in 2022, the singer and the former FC Barcelona star only communicated through Shakira’s brother Tonino due to the strain caused by Piqué’s infidelity and the public emergence of Clara Chía.
The Hips Don’t Lie singer channeled much of that emotional fallout into hits like Music Sessions Vol. 53 with Bizarrap — a global anthem that took direct aim at Piqué, his family and his new partner.
The rupture ran so deep that Shakira once wished for the “burial” of Piqué’s father and later relocated from Barcelona to Miami with their children, Sasha and Milan. There, she continued releasing music detailing her healing process.
But the outlet reports that the relationship has now shifted toward cooperation, with both parents calmly coordinating their children’s schedules and decisions without third-party involvement.
In a notable sign of this new phase, Shakira recently acknowledged Piqué’s influence in their sons’ discipline — something previously unimaginable.
“The father is also very disciplined, because you can't succeed in any profession without discipline, it's basic… If you have to show up for something, you have to rehearse; if you have to show up for an exam, you have to study. There is no other way. That is non-negotiable,” she said, as per outlet.
Though their communication remains focused solely on parenting, the shift marks a significant step toward stability after years of public conflict.
