Zara Tindall seemingly holds a special place for the annual royal Christmas that reunited the whole family at Sandringham, a tradition that has continued on for generations.
King Charles’s beloved niece had revealed previously that she will be heading to the much-loved family get together along with husband Mike and their three children, Mia, 11, Lena, 7, and Lucas, 4. However, as much as the royal has a fondness for the annual gathering, there are big changes on the way when Prince William takes over the throne.
The daughter of Princess Anne revealed in her recent outing that to this day the royal family upholds the tradition of stockings.
“As adults, we still have stockings on Christmas Day,” adding that even her late grandparents, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, used to have stockings.
It was reported that previously that William has plans to “scrap an outdated ceremony which involves handing out ‘joke’ £5 presents in strict order of royal seniority”.
Charlotte Griffiths of DailyMail cited that there had been a long-standing tradition in which presents were placed on a trestle-table and each royal gets a turn to pick the present according to royal ranks.
Former correspondent Jennie Bond had also shared that in the reign of William, “a lot of traditions will change” and the exchange of presents on Christmas Eve may well be one of them. However, things are not yet official and Zara can still enjoy the festive activity while the family upholds it.
Furthermore, Zara has been supportive towards the Prince and Princess of Wales. She had often spoken in praise of her cousin and even attended the 2025 Together at Christmas Carol concert, hosted by Princess Kate.
