Chelsea Handler criticizes Timothée ‘boastful press tour for Marty Supreme

Chelsea Handler weighed in on Timothée Chalamet’s headline‑grabbing press tour calling out the actor’s bold self‑promotion for Marty Supreme.

Appearing on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast, Handler agreed with host Amanda Hirsch that Chalamet’s promotional antics may have gone too far.

“He seemed pretty serious about winning and getting acknowledged for his great acting,” Handler said.

She added that while she believes Chalamet is talented, “It’s hard to hear someone talk about how great they are at acting.”

The 30‑year‑old actor has been making waves with bold stunts and eyebrow‑raising interviews during the campaign.

He became the first person to appear atop the Las Vegas Sphere which was transformed into a giant ping‑pong ball.

Chalamet also staged a surreal Tonight Show appearance surrounded by men in black bodysuits and orange ping‑pong masks.

It’s Chalamet’s own words though that have sparked the most debate.

In one interview, Kylie Jenner's beau declared Marty Supreme his best role yet.

He said he has delivered ‘top‑of‑the‑line performances’ over the past seven to eight years and doesn’t want audiences to take it for granted.

Handler and Hirsch compared Chalamet’s approach to Leonardo DiCaprio noting that DiCaprio never publicly boasted about his craft despite waiting decades for his first Oscar.

“Leo wouldn’t do that. Leo is a movie star. He wouldn’t talk like that,” Handler said.

Despite the criticism, Chalamet insisted his press tour reflected the spirit of the film. “It’s a movie about the pursuit of a dream. I’m leaving it on the field… I’m trying to get this out in the biggest way possible,” he told IndieWire.

Directed by Josh Safdie, Marty Supreme follows the rise of table tennis prodigy Marty Mauser, played by Chalamet, and features Gwyneth Paltrow, Odessa A’zion, Fran Drescher, and Kevin O’Leary.

The film has already earned Chalamet a Critics Choice Award and a Golden Globe.

It has positioned him as a frontrunner for the upcoming Oscars.
