While the entire internet is gushing over the relationship Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom share, there are many who do not know just how ‘challenging’ their past was back in 2017.

During a recent interview with People magazine, the singer was quoted saying, "It's a never-ending evolution, so it's not peachy-keen jelly bean all the time, but it's nice to have been able to show each other all the good, bad, and everything in between, and really fight for our best selves.”

She also went on to say, "Now, we just joke, like yeah, we still have things to work out — but champagne problems! We've gotten through a lot of hell."

While the start of their whirlwind romance was not as glamorous as many would expect of Hollywood megastars, they reportedly quite enjoyed their bonding experience “over an In-N-Out burger." That was also the point in time where they effectively decided to end their relationship, in the past.

During her interview with Tom Potter for Q on CBC Radio One, Perry claimed that after her breakup back in 2017, she had completely “crashed” head first.

"I had broken up with my boyfriend, who is now my baby-daddy-to-be, and then I was excited about flying high off the next record. But the validation did not make me high, and so I just crashed."

However, it all proved to be beneficial for her because they both ended up realizing that they both need to make quite a few changes if they were to ever give their relationship another shot.

She concluded by saying, “Yes, we have problems. Everybody has challenges in a relationship.” But “If it's a real relationship, it's going to challenge you into your best self."
