Freaky Friday 2’s upcoming sequel will include four body swaps, expanding the original ground of the story.
New details about the plot of Disney's highly anticipated sequel Freaky Friday have been revealed by Entertainment Weekly.
According to the script in the upcoming sequel Lindsay Lohan's character, Anna Coleman who is now in her adulthood, and her mother Tess played by Jamie Lee Curtis, will switch lives not with each other this time, but with two teenage girls.
Filmmaker Nisha Ganatra who is the director of Freaky Friday 2, took to her Instagram story to announce an open casting call to fill the new role of Anna's 14-year-old daughter, Harper.
The script described the Harper's character as, "a tomboy with a sharp sense of humor, (who is) in a bit of a mood these days because her longtime single mom is set to marry British restaurateur Eric Davis.”
Anna's teenage daughter is not happy about her mom's plans to marry the British restaurateur who also has a 14-year-old daughter, Lily, as she does "not see eye to eye" with Harper.
Script further detailed, “Harper 'would like to see things go her way and use her intelligence to stop this marriage from ever happening.'”
According to the audition sides reviewed by the outlet, "this is a 'body swap' scene," and "Harper should channel 'Anna' (Lindsay Lohan) and Lily should channel 'Tess' (Jamie Lee Curtis)."
The script also includes a scene in which Tess and Anna in their teenaged bodies, sipping apple juice from wine glasses and Anna reveals that she fears she has lost touch with her teenage self, who fronted a rock band in the first film.
As per the outlet, the shooting for the sequel is set to begin in the summer in Los Angeles but right now it is unclear if Freaky Friday 2 will be released in theaters or stream on Disney+.
For those unversed, Freaky Friday first premiered in 1976, starring Jodie Foster and Barbara Harris.
The story was then adapted into a 1995 TV movie and again in 2018 for the Disney channel with Heidi Blickenstaff and Cozi Zuehlsdorff.
However, 2003’s Freaky Friday was a big hit and Disney earned more than 270 million combining both domestic and international earnings.
