Isla Fisher almost filed for divorce from Sacha Baron Cohen years earlier: Report

Isla Fisher had already made up her mind to seek divorce from Sasha Baron Cohen before the Rebel Wilson controversy, according to insider.

The private couple, who tied the know in 2010 and shared three children together, announced their separation earlier this month via a joint Instagram post.

However, while fans speculated the divorce was fueled by Wilson’s accusations, a friend close to the actress revealed that she had already been going through a rough patch with her ex-husband for a while now.

"She was unhappy for a while”, the source told In Touch Weekly.

Describing Sacha Baron Cohen’s personality as ‘workaholic’, ‘controlling’ and ‘domineering’, the close friend added, “It took courage for her to finally say, ‘Enough’”.

Nonetheless, speaking about Wilson's controversial memoir, the tipster added that the Now You See Me actress was aware of Sacha’s “smutty jokes and mean streak” but let it slide.

“Isla already had one foot out the door when the whole Rebel thing blew up. She didn’t want any part of it, nor did she want to have to defend Sacha’s behaviour”, shared another source to the media outlet.

Revealing that the mother of three tried to leave a few years back and reached out to a “UK-based celebrity lawyer."

Fisher did not file for the divorce then as the Borat actor convinced her that he will be more present in he life and will work less.

“Isla stayed longer than she would have for the kids’ sake”, concluded the insider.
