Prince Harry has started to face a lot of scrutiny when it comes to his interview for the BBC. So much so that a podcast has picked up on it, and urged the Duke to reconsider his approach to rapprochement.
Former editor of The Sun David Yelland, recently sat for an appearance on BBC Radio 4’s When It Hits the Fan podcast.
During that chat, he questioned Prince Harry’s choice of words during the BBC interview, despite lauding him in general.
The conversation began with Yelland saying, “Unfortunately, in PR, the words and language that you use are key.”
In addition, since “Harry also used the word ‘reconciliation’. He clearly wants a rapprochement. But in order to get truth and reconciliation, you have to start to say ‘sorry’ for your part.”
In the host’s eyes, “The route to recovery, which is really what we’re talking about here, is that both sides, if we’re going to get anywhere, are going to have to apologise for their part in what has happened.”
“I don’t see any sign of that at the moment in terms of his communications.”
Yelland’s co-host Simon Lewis was also part of that conversation. For those unversed he had served as Queen Elizabeth’s communications secretary during her reign and shared his own thoughts on the entire thing.
To him, “Perhaps he should have delivered some of his messages so much more elegantly.” Because “a less accusatory approach might have resulted in more sympathy,” he added before the whole thing concluded.
