Kensington Palace seeks balance in media coverage of Kate Middleton: report

Kensington Palace is trying to make sure that public interest in royal fashion doesn't overshadow the work being carried out by the royal family.

Speaking to GB News, a royal commentator said that the Kensington Palace intend to “reset the balance” with their coverage of Kate Middleton .

His remarks came after Kate Middleton's back to back recent public appearances at the Buckingham Palace garden party and the naming ceremony of a warship in Glasgow.

Media coverage of Kate Middleton's outfit and style seemed to overshadow the garden party's significance.

Similarly, the dress she wore during her Glasgow appearance was also widely discussed by the media, with some outlets drawing comparisons between her and Princess Diana.

Gareth Russell was of the view that palace communications teams are seeking a more balanced approach to royal coverage.

He suggested that the royal family want equal attention given to both the fashion choices of royals and their work.

The need to strike a balance between their fashion and work continues to grows due to the criticism the royal family receives from anti-monarchists over their expenditure of public funds.

"We'll see the royal households try to create more of a balance between pieces written about what they're wearing versus what they're doing," Gareth Russell told GB News.

He said: "And I think that's probably what they're attempting to do - reset the balance."
