Maria Shriver has opened up about her feelings for her son-in-law Chris Pratt.

On the latest episode of the Jamie Kern Lima Show podcast, the 69-year-old author, Journalist, and former First Lady of California, whose daughter Katherine Schwarzenegger is married to the 45-year-old American actor, revealed that she is “blessed” with a son-in-law like Pratt.

Expressing her feelings, Shriver said, "I'm so blessed with my son-in-law, who is so loving and spiritual, kind.”

She added, “He's such a great husband and father, and he is such a great member of our family."

The author of What’s Heaven went on to sing praises of her son Patrick Schwarzenegger's fiancée by saying, "Same with my daughter-in-law-to-be, Abby [Champion]."

Shriver emphasised the importance of giving her children’s partners top priority.

"How do those partners fit in? How do you welcome those partners? How does everybody make sure that they make room, and how do we open up our hearts to make sure that we are a growing family — an inclusive family, a loving family?" the Take Your Pills star explained.

"I always would say to my daughters, 'You have to always make room. Your brothers bring somebody home, we've gotta expand,’” the mother of four shared.

"Our goal is to be welcoming and to be open and to keep communication going. Because you never wanna put yourself in a place to make a brother or sister choose between their partner and their relationship with you. Family is everything,” Maria Shriver clarified.
