Ricky Gervais is now claiming victory in the battle against cancel culture.
During a speech at his Hollywood Walk of Fame induction ceremony on Friday, May 30, the 63-year-old Comedian and actor reminisced about his successful comedy career and jokingly stated that he defeated cancel culture.
Reflecting on his success, Gervais said, “I'd love to claim that it was due to my unrivaled genius, but truth be told, it's a cocktail of luck, persistence, and a little bit of pushing against the tide.”
“You know, you've gotta polarize, I think. You need to know that if you're doing anything of any worth, as many people hate you as love you. But the ones that hate you shouldn't affect you. The ones that love you, they buy your house! So, I'd like to thank them,” he stated.
The British star of The Office went on to talk about cancel culture and how he stood victorious in the strong wave.
“And we've had a few weird years of cancel culture, people telling you what you can and can't laugh at or talk about, but we pushed back, and we won. Until the next time,” Gervais emphasized in his concluding remarks.
