Adele wrote letters to the creators of the Netflix hit series Adolescence, noting that it changed her relationship with her son.
Adele wrote to director Philip Barantini and shared that she watched the show, which centers on a 13-year-old boy committing murder, with her own 13-year-old son, Angelo.
The show highlights the impact of misogynistic online content on young boys’ minds.
“I am getting messages, inundated on Instagram, from people from all over the world who can relate to this story or have really been affected by it. That, for me, has blown my mind a little bit,” director Philip said, while attending a masterclass with Royal Television Society, per The Sun.
“I had a text message from Steven Spielberg who has watched it twice, and I got letters from Adele last week - handwritten letters from Adele,” he shared.
“I mean, just like saying that she had watched it with her son, and it has changed their relationship,” he shared of the Someone Like You hitmaker.
Even Britain’s Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer praised the show and also suggested that it be shown in schools. He noted that it was hard to watch it with his 14-year-old daughter and 16-year-old son. He said, “As a dad, I have not found it easy viewing.”
Adolescence is a four part limited series which is now the second most watched British show on Netflix. The show launched lead actor Owen Cooper to global fame and critical acclaim.
