Johnny Depp says friends 'stabbed him in the back' during Amber Heard trial

Johnny Depp is opening up about the prime focus of the #MeToo movement during his defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard.

Depp’s career was over when Heard came out with allegations of domestic abuse against him in a 2018 op-ed she wrote for The Washington Post.

The Pirates of the Caribbean star sued the Aquaman actress in 2019 over her claims and she countersued him.

After a heavily publicized trial, Depp’s reputation was restored when the jury sided majorly with him.

Now, he’s reflecting on how some friends wronged him during the trial.

“I’ll tell you what hurts. There are people, and I’m thinking of three, who did me dirty,” the actor told the Times of London.

“Those people were at my kids’ parties. Throwing them in the air. And, look, I understand people who could not stand up [for me], because the most frightening thing to them was making the right choice,” he added.

“I was like a crash test dummy for MeToo, … and I sponged it, took it all in,” the Edward Scissorhands star remarked.

He continued, “And so I wanted from the hundreds of people I’ve met in that industry to see who was playing it safe. ‘Better go woke!’”

Johnny Depp won the case and Amber Heard was ordered to pay him $15million in damages while she was awarded $2 million in damages.
