Kevin Spacey has long been shunned from Hollywood after he was embroiled in sexual harassment cases.
However, in recent years, the House of Cards star has been embraced in the film industries of other countries, such as Italy.
In the latest, the European country’s Undersecretary of Culture, Lucia Borgonzoni presented the Maximo Excellent award at the inaugural Italian Global Series Festival (IGSF).
During his acceptance speech, Kevin hailed Italian actor-director Franco Nero, who tapped him in the 2021 film L’uomo Che Disegno Dio, saying he had “stepped up to cast me a few years ago when very few had the guts, and I thank him for that.”
He continued, “This award tonight means a lot to me because Italy holds a spacial place in my heart.”
“I love coming to this country, whether just to visit or I have a job. I’ve shot many films in Italy.”
He capped off his speech by giving a reference to John Doe, the serial killer he played in Se7en.
“As I say to Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman when asked, ‘Where are we headed?’ I simply respond with, ‘You’ll see.'”
Earlier, the Academy-winning star received the Nations Award for Lifetime Achievement in Taormina.
As far as Kevin’s legal trouble is concerned, he is facing a suit from actor Ruari Cannon in the UK.
