Adam Sandler recently remembered working as a teen with “hilarious” Malcolm-Jamal Warner on The Cosby Show.
While giving an interview to Entertainment Tonight at the New York premiere of Happy Gilmore 2 on Monday, July 21, the 58-year-old American comedian and actor reminisced about working alongside the late star on The Cosby Show, where he played Theodore Huxtable.
For the unversed, Warner, who was an American actor, poet, and musician, passed away on July 20, 2025, at the age of 54. His cause of death was asphyxia by submersion due to drowning in Limon, Costa Rica.
Sandler, who played the role of Smitty in the show, shared his disbelief over the sudden death of Warner, saying, “I can’t believe it. Malcom was so nice to me when I was on the show and we had such good times together.”
“I was probably 18 and Malcom was probably 17, 16, I don’t know. We would take walks together, all of us, and pick up food, talk, play basketball, hang out on the weekends, and go to parties together,” he added.
“He was so good to me as a person, and his mom was amazing. I’m just sending my love to the family. Malcolm is a true great person, a hilarious, smart kid, and meant a lot to America,” the Grown Ups stars admitted, singing praises of the Tyson star.
"Absolute great man, I’m so sorry to his wife and his child too,” Sandler quipped, as he extended his condolences to Warner’s wife and daughter.
