Dakota Fanning is revising her priorities by leaving her acting career on the backburner and taking the role of a mother more seriously.

During an interview with PORTER, the 30-year-old Ripley star unveiled it all and admitted that she decided to set up her career while opting to start a family.

She said, "Being an actor is a huge part of my identity. I don't really know who I am without it."

Fanning also added, "But I also have a desire to set up my life and career so that I always have a choice,"

Furthermore she told the outlet, "Having kids is probably more important to me than anything, even being an actor. If somebody said I had to choose, I would choose having kids. I'm one of those people who has always felt that pull."

While the star admits she is not yet sure when she will have kids or how much work she will want to do when that time comes, but for now, she is enjoying the moment she has.

"I'm trying to push myself to keep saying yes to things that make me uncomfortable, to keep going to places for long periods of time that maybe I'm scared to do because — God willing — one day, it won't be as easy," said Fanning.

For those unversed, Dakota Fanning made her first debut in 2001’s I Am Sam at the age of 7 and became the youngest actor nominated for a SAG Award.

She also starred in The Twilight Saga and the TNT series The Alienist.

Dakota's two television series are set to premiere in 2024, Ripley and Netflix’s The Perfect Couple.
