Smash Mouth is set to make a heartfelt return after the loss of their iconic frontman Steve Harwell.
Seven months after the passing of their co-founder, Harwell at age 58, the band announced the release of their new single, Ride On.
Taking to Instagram on Monday, Smash Mouth shared a post with the release date accompanied by the announcement in caption, stating, "Our brand new single RIDE ON drops next Friday! Available everywhere! #discorock #newmusicfriday."
This release is not just a tribute to Harwell but also a celebration of Smash Mouth's 30-year journey since its inception in 1994.
Ride On is described by bassist Paul Gerald DeLisle as a continuation of the band's 2001 feel-good hit Pacific Coast Party, he stated, "We wrote it as a continuation of our 2001 hit single, 'Pacific Coast Party,' with a similar good-vibe feel."
He added, "It's a very Smash Mouth-California style of rock/disco custom song made just for summer, a respectful and loving homage to Pablo Cruise."
