Vanessa Carlton shares shocking details about Julia Stiles' friendship
Julia Stiles tapped Vanessa Carlton to score her debut film, 'Wish You Were Here'

Vanessa Carlton and Julia Stiles' friendship goes back over 30 years.
The duo, who are now collaborating on Stiles' directorial debut, Wish You Were Here, have known each other since ninth grade.
In an interview with PEOPLE magazine, Vanessa shared, "I’ve known Julia since like ninth grade biology class, so we’re just living our life, man, just looking for the next exciting thing to do."
A Thousand Miles crooner and Stiles have crossed paths many times in their careers, they're often seen on red carpet events together.
Additionally, Carlton also reflected on auditioning for Stiles' directorial film alongside her husband John McCauley.
She said, "We auditioned — we read the script last summer. We got to throw our hat in the ring with our themes and then we got the job."
"It was so fabulous — our first time scoring a film. Julia is such an amazing director, and she gave us such wonderful clear guidance musically, so it was a real pleasure to set the mood musically for the film," the three-time Grammy nominee went on to add.
It is worth mentioning that Wish You Were Here, which stars Isabelle Fuhrman and Mena Massoud, has been released on January 17, 2025.
