Prince William announced the six-part BBC docuseries, Guardians on May 23.

The first episode of the series, as part of the United for Wildlife programme, has been released.

The official instagram handle of United for Wildlife shared moments from the docuseries.

In the caption, they shared a quote from the Prince of Wales, stating, “I've had the privilege of meeting rangers throughout my life and have seen firsthand the vital work they do. Yet their stories are often overlooked or misunderstood.”

They further stated, “Today, Prince William and The Royal Foundation’s United for Wildlife programme launch Guardians, a groundbreaking new docuseries on @BBCEarth.”

“This six-part series shines a light on the remarkable individuals risking their lives every day to protect nature.”

Notably, the first episode of the Guardians follows the journey of Modiki Claver, who dedicates his life protecting the wildlife he once hunted.

“In the first episode, we follow the inspiring journey of Modiki Claver, a reformed poacher who now dedicates his life to protecting the wildlife he once hunted, as he patrols Dzanga-Sangha Protected Area which is home to Africa’s highest concentration of forest elephants and lowland gorillas,” the statement read further.

The episode was released just hours after Kensington Palace issued a statement about Prince William’s big move.

Sharing the trailer, the palace wrote, “Rangers play a critical role as the first line of defence in the protection and conservation of our natural world. Every day, they take huge risks, standing between poachers and endangered species, protecting biodiversity and maintaining ecological balance.”

“United for Wildlife are celebrating these remarkable individuals, and their tireless efforts to protect some of our most valued natural assets, in a groundbreaking new docuseries, ‘Guardians’,” the statement on behalf of Prince William and Kate Middleton further read.
