Prince Harry and Meghan Markle would be “hurt and angry” at losing their royal titles if Prince William stripped them of these when he becomes a king in future, a royal expert believes.
Speaking to the Mirror, royal expert Jennie Bond said that on a human level, the California-based royal couple would be “hurt and angry” at losing their titles.
She explained this was patricianly apparent as Archie and Lilibet doting parents appeared “wedded to the idea that their children should use their royal titles.”
The duchess, who also continues to use HRH in contradiction of royal protocol, is evidently also attached to the Sussex name.
During a moment of her Netflix series, Meghan corrected friend and actress Mindy Kaling on how she should be referred.
Meghan said “It's so funny, too, that you keep saying, 'Meghan Markle.' You know, I'm Sussex now.”
Meghan then explained the significance of the name change, adding: "You have kids, and you go, 'No, I share my name with my children.'"
The actress, later, appeared to take the correction in stride, nodding in agreement and responding: "Now I know, and I love it."
Jennie said, "It would, inevitably, reduce their standing -particularly, perhaps, in the eyes of the American public, who seem to adore royalty. But I simply do not think that this is going to happen."
Moreover, the royal expert said Prince Harry and William may be ‘forever estranged’ as Royal Family rift continues.
Jennie Bond said, "William may remain estranged from his brother forever, even though this would be a very sad state of affairs.”
The Mirror quoted the royal expert as suggesting that William and Harry’s relationship would not heal, and the Prince of Wales would “continue” to see Harry as “irrelevant to his life and to this country”.
