Rawalpindi wins National Women’s Football C’ship ISLAMABAD: The Young Rising Star Rawalpindi won the fourth National Women’s Football Championship by defeating the WAPDA after an interesting contest here on Saturday.

In the final, played at the Jinnah Stadium, none of the two teams could get any goal by the end of the allotted time.

They could not score any goal even in the additional time after which both teams were given five penalty kicks each.

Both teams made two goals each on penalty kicks but the Young Rising Star displaying better performance on sudden death, won the match 5-4 to become the national women’s champion for the first time.

The victorious team was awarded the prize amount of Rs 50,000 and the runners-up given Rs 30,000 while the team winning the third position got Rs 20,000.

The championship trophy was received by Sana Mahmood, captain of the winning team.
